Dungeon Crawl II
Prelude
Yes, I believe the negotiations are going well.
Player Perspective
The group, rested and healed after their first hard day, returned to explore further. Lacking Miru-Sung to give them direction, the task instead fell mostly to Hansu, who was decidedly uncomfortable in the role of leader. He mostly took out his frustration on doors, monsters, and the odd bit of home decor.
Mirumoto and The Other Monk* decided the best course of action was to destroy as many of Acu's ancient furnishings as possible. Towards that end, they returned to the prison cells to destroy the serpent-themed cage they had seen there earlier. Hansu began breaking it apart when suddenly flames raced up one side. A moment later, five fire-breathing dogs appeared and the whole room was in flames.
The group rallied and began attacking the dogs in earnest. The fight was short, but devastating as the dogs exploded in a fireball when they died. The party survived, but no one was unwounded. Of the dogs, there was no trace. A small brass mirror, similar in shape to the larger one was found and taken.
Mirumoto and The Other Monk* then decided to investigate the mirror room. They discovered the frame was pinned to the wall. Resolving to destroy it, they had Hansu strike it repeatedly with a sledge. His second hit sounded the mirrror as though it were a gong and suddenly the snakes on the frame began to move. The mirror itself showed a reflection of the room they were in, save that a dozen snake-men came in, bearing the banner of Acu.
Hansu was the first to charge and was quickly joined by the others. The fight proved devastating, as the leader of the snake-men marshalled his forces well. He had the six smaller snake women attack The Prince of Birds* using magic while the others kept the party from attacking him or the women. Luckily, Toru's sword made quick work of his snake and Hansu was able to leap to the enemies rear and attack their spellcasters. He tore through three in nothing flat.
A moment later, Mirumoto Long, showing the prudence of a good general, attacked the leader of the snakemen. He was a powerful wizard and a clever tactician, but he was no match for the swords of Mirumoto and was quickly slain. The remaining snakes put up a valiant fight but, without their leader, they were no match for the seasoned veterans and their legendary leader, Mirumoto Long.
Venturing deeper into their enemy's ancient stronghold, they found a room with a pit of fire. The walls, floor and ceiling were completely covered in black and white tiles in a disorienting pattern. On the wall opposite them, directly behind the pit, was the symbol of Acu. Hansu gathered up his hammer and made for the room only to have five men of brass leap out of the pit and begin attacking the group.
The brass men were brave, noble, and no match for the forces of Mirumoto Long. It was the work of but a moment for them to be subdued and forced to explain themselves. Satisfied that they were only fulfilling an ancient obligation, Mirumoto Long granted them the mercy that comes only with great strength and let them return to their homes.
Further investigation brought them to a strange room where the double doors had been gnawed through. The Other Monk's* staff alerted him to danger behind the doors and he ordered Hansu to break them down. Hansu broke them only to find himself nearly knocked to the ground by the furious attack of a giant rat. The rat was nearly as big as a lion and it's body was riddled with the sores of a hundred previous battles. Knowing the others would never forgive him if he let their august persons be touched by a rat, Hansu held the foul thing while the others slowly beat it to death.
Another room led them to a pitched battle with some snakemen skeletons, still another saw them make short work of some ghost spiders thanks to the amazing powers at the beck and call of Mirumoto. They finally arrived in the secret vault where they were beset by three foul creatures.
They had the semblance of men, yet they were thousands of years old. They wore armor and could cast powerful magicks. All this earned them little more than a footnote in the chronicles of Mirumoto Long who cut them down like wheat before the scythe of his mighty thews.
The group declared the stronghold empty and divided their loot as best they could.

- Virtue
- Participation by role-playing to the setting and involving your background. Each point is based on 1% of what you need for your next level.
Wuxia- Actions and role-playing that play to the setting. IE jumping around shouting about your honor and cutting up things in bamboo groves. Each point is based on 1% of what you need for your next level.
Honor- Overall achievement for the night, killing stuff and meeting goals. Mike is always going to end up with a lower honor number because of his advancement being one level higher. The Honor level is based on overall difficulty of achieving goals for the night, this number is awarded to each character instead of being divided.
- White Chips are Yang and are awarded for actions that advance the plot or impress the GM, these will also often result in a Wuxia award.
- Black Chips are Yin and are awarded for insights and role-playing that advance the plot or impress the GM, these will also often result in a Virtue award.
- Yang (White Chips) may be spent to give +5 to a dynamic roll (combat, balancing on a rope, catching a falling child before he tumbles past you and into a lake of molten lava, etc.) or to alter the environment in a plausible way (there could be a rope hanging from the loading derrick that lets you swing out to the escaping ship, there could be a weak bar in the cell window, etc.)
- Yin (Black Chips) may be spent to give +5 to a non-dynamic roll (lying to people, making a charm person spell harder to resist, artistic endeavors) or to alter the environment in a plausible way (you hear about another characters capture, the prison guard is married to your aunt, your cellmate happens to be the architect of the dungeon you had heard was imprisoned here, etc.)
