Into Bistal

Prelude

In Astol:

"Excellent, things are moving as planned. General prepare your men, we will be ready soon." a sly grin crossed the face of Baroness Katriana as the confused General looks around and then leaves, her smile is cut short when she looks across the table.

"Baroness, may I remind you that Astol has agreed to join ranks with your people because we are working for the overall same goal, world domination. However, if you ever take it upon yourself to think you are in control when you in Astol or of any Astollians, you will have more to worry about then the members of the Council. Do I make myself clear?" Countess Reanna's voice as cold and hard as the look on her face as she stares at the Baroness.

Katriana laughs a bit. "My my, I must say that King of yours is rather smart...for being a man. Not only did he make you, a woman, our liason but it seems he picked the right kind of woman. Yes you are right, that was rude of me. My apologies Countess." with that she gives a smile and a bow.

In Bistal:

"Baron Selcor, we have just recieved word. All the men are ready and in position. Our plans thus far have been executed with out fail. But my Lord, I must protest our choise of allies. I mean, how can we work with...them. They are unreasonable, and in no way loyal to you, the other Barons or our cause."

"Now now, my good Commander there will be nothing to worry about. During times of war you need your allies, good or bad. But just remember this piece of advice, it's always good to have an ally that is expendable to your cause." The Baron's laughter is soon joined by his Commanders.

Elsewhere in Bistal:

"We have the boy in that cart over there. Now take him just as you were instructed, and remember something you walking cespool, he's not food. If he is killed while in your care, I will make sure there are no tribes left to rebuild Svykur."

Adventure Summary

Our heroes, tired and wounded from battle arrange the ogre bodies in a way that will give the belief the Amazon women where the cause of their deaths. Heading back to the village they see that the funeral pyre is burning and the villagers are insisting on staying. Cutter met with their appointed leader and suggested that they move north into Hikria where it is safe, until the Royal family once again controlled Bistal. They villagers said they would think on it and give an answer in the morning. Later that night Olown noticed three riders approaching, all looking like wizards. As they got closer he noticed that one was thew wizard Nadimus he had seen at the Council meeting just before coming here. Soon Nadimus and his group entered camped and settled for the night. Nadimus introduced his companions, Dacor an Artifactor from Ambroe College and Toglard, a student of Ambroe College with little social skills.

The next morning the villagers informed Cutter that all but six would be heading northing with some of Genna's men until things were safe. The remaining six where going to travel to Bykin and offer their service to the king and help reclaim their land. The group traveled for a day with little event, even the camp was quiet at night. The next morning the group set off, with Cutter in the lead scouting a head. Some time after lunch as Cutter rounded the bend, two arrows flew closely by his head. Turning his horse Cutter rode back to the party. Seeing Cutter coming back round the bend at top speed snapped the rest of the party into action, even Toglard was ithcing to fight. As Cutter came around the bend, he leaped from his horse and took cover on a tree limb above ready to pounce on the riders as they rode past, but as soon as Toglard saw the five riders round the corner he let loose with a sphere of ice that sent all but two riders to their asses off their horses. After being told by Cutter that they were greatly out numbered they surrendered.

Later that night one of the prisoners faked being sick so he could talk to Morduke and the rest of the group. Once away from the other prisoners, he confessed that he wanted nothing to do with Selcor and his plans. That he was a member of the Bistalian army not Selcor's, however there was little choice outside of death if he tried to leave the army. He also admited there were others like him, others that were staying in the army due to fear and intimidation. To prove his sincerety, he produced a map from a hollow heel in his boot that showed where Selcor has be massing his army, preparing for an attack on what was left of Bykin. The attack had to be perfect since he and the other baron's wanted none of the Bykin plant farms to be destoryed or harmed in any way. Selcor's force was in the thousands but he couldn't verify what the other Baron's forces were like. Cutter and Morduke offered him a chance to switch sides and join forces with the party and he agreed, he also mentioned that there was a sixth rider who was heading back to a encampment of a small force measuring about 18 men and that they would surely send word to Selcor of what's happened. Cutter offered the deal to the other prisoners, join forces with the party or risk being put to death, one other prisoner accepted the offer but didn't want to make it know until they reached the captial safely.

As Cutter talked to the prisoners Olowniuk went for Nadimus to ask for advice on what to do. Returning with Nadimus the choice was made to ride after the sixth rider and hope they can stop the force from reporting. However, the rider had a three hour lead on the group already and there was no way they would make it in time for an interception. Nadimus told them to ride on the encampment, and produced four vials of liquid. Each vial contained four doses of the strange liquid, once given to the horses it seemed to almost triple their speed and endurance. With their super charged horses the party began to ride with the new ally. Unfortunetly, their super charged horses weren't as fast as they has hoped and they arrived at the encampment just in time to see the camp come alive with movement. Noticing two riders preparing to leave with a message being handed to them by a wizard the group sprung into action. Toglard let loose with a pyrotechnics spell that blinded half the men in the camp, while Olowniuk snuck up on the riders and attacked. At the same time Morduke cast a hold spell freezing the wzard in his place. Between the spells of Toglard and the steel of Ulrich, and the rest it was long before the party cut down the remaining men, including the wizard, the caption and a priest.

After it was all said in done, the group found themselves with nine prisoners, equipment for 18 men, and four items of magic. Two scrolls, a cloak and a ring.
