Riddle Vault of Lumdor

Prelude

Those guys are good.
Yes, maybe a little too good.
What do you mean?
Well, they missed a lot of the worst things on their last trip. I wonder if they have inside info.
C'mon Kradel, they just got lucky.

Lumdor? He's pitting them against Lumdor already? That's nuts!

Tale of the Tavern Version 1

Aye, I realize tis normally the dwarf, Rosko who spills the tale here, but tonight I am buying drinks so pull up a chair and I wil give you a firsthand account of our delve into The Riddle Vault of Lumdor.

Things started slow that night with Rosko spendingnigh on ten minutes checking the entryway, I suppose it was worthwhile, he said it had a poison trap on it. Once past there things sped up a bit, we found ourselves facing skeletons. You could see the disdain for them on Rosco and Sheng's face, that was before poor Sheng took a handful of finger missiles to his chest, after that we resorted to old fashioned sword work to finish them. There was a rat hole there which we didn't pay much heed to after all whats a few rats.

Well Drago was mapping, it turns out he has quite a knack for it, and after a few rooms and a few more assorted undead we wandered into this room with two mouths and things just got worse for poor Sheng as he was froze in his tracks. I checked him and saw I could do nothing so I set him aside with the intention of bringing him out and having him returned to life. Well it turns out that those rat holes turned out to be more important than we had suspected since something made of with poor Sheng before we managed to get back to the exit. After a bit more wandering and quite a few traps we found a crypt with some sort of creatures in them.. looked like zombies but sure didn't act like them. We mopped them up in no time and continued on our way, about this time Rosko was getting pretty cocky about finding those traps, and Drago was getting all high and mighty about his mapping ability, which does seem to be better than mine but still.... Anyway old Rosko he opens a door and about the time it smacks him into the floor making him shorter than he already was Drago pipes up with "Oh by the way, that door is probably a trap." Now I don't know for sure, but if your mapping is that good the warning should come before things start happening.

Well, after that Rosko got even more cautious and I was beginning to think it would be midnight before we managed to get out of there. Somehow we managed to stumble back to the entrance without further casualties only to find Maladar, a priest lost from another delve standing there and looking lost. We soon had his story out of him and invited him to join us for an equal share of the. It turned out to be a good thing we did too, we ran into more of those magic using skeletons before finding the real crypt. Once we had found it things began to get interesting, there was a puzzle of sorts with colored glass and colored gems. Now anyone could see they were the colors of the rainbow and the glass was lots of colors as well, but the Elf and Rosko sat there debating what to do with them, until I pointed out they should be put together to make the different colors when a light shone through them.

Well we got that figured out and after some plaing and getting a little singed Drago decided he wasn't experimenting anymore and then old Rosko, well he ups and cuts the light and hears a lock releasing; after that it was just a matter of finding where the lock was getting the sceptre and then getting out. This of course we did or I would not now be here buying you all drinks and asking your opinions on how we stack up against other groups of delvers in the area. Mind that is strictly from an entertainment point of view, after all to us to some of us its a way to pay our bills, to others it means something, and to you my friends we offer a bit of sport and the chance to do some betting. So lets here what you have to say.

Tale of the Tavern Version 2

"May I have your attention please…Thank you. I would like to buy everybody a round in order to toast my departed friend, Wo Sheng. Everybody got one? To Wasabi, also called Wo Sheng, a man always willing to take the worst a delve can do entirely onto himself, Wo Sheng."

"How did it happen, I’m glad you asked, for some reason after every delve I feel the need to tell someone every single detail or I just feel like I’m not getting something extra from the delve." "We had been told that we would be going into the Riddle Vault of Lumdor, famed for its traps and riddles. We showed up on time but separate at the arena, and slowly began to work our way through the endlessly identical rooms with doors in all four directions, and In the first room I spotted what looked to be a rat hole which Bren the red identified as a Jermaling bolt hole. After a few room with some feeble undead fodder we came to a room with two stone mouths with riddles written above them. I quickly got the answers of bread and water and was all set to toss em in after making sure every one was spread out.

Drago wanted to wait and come back for them, but the one promised information and the other promised a great power, this last one sounded a bit funny which may have been what was bothering Drago but everyone else wanted to try them out. I really only wanted to try the one which promised information, but Bren and Sheng wanted to do both at the same time. So I tossed in part of my lunch in the one and Sheng tossed in some water in the other. Next thing you know, my was telling us go right to avoid the false way and two secret doors opened, and the other mouth breathed out a storm of freezing mist killing Sheng dead in his tracks. We striped Sheng of everything of value and decided to come back for his body later so that it would not become a lame skeleton in one of Krendals dungeon crawls but it had disappeared when we came back that way."

"We searched most of the rest of the place and fought some weird but feeble undead and a whole bunch of identical lot bought doors traps, A few got me because I was always the one up in front willing to take my chances, but mostly because I wasn’t expecting every single frilling door to be trapped, I mean what kind of anal retentive moron traps half the doors in a delve with the same identical traps, Bah!"

"We found one of the fake tomes and got a sixth man saved up from another delve throw in with us to replace Sheng and then proceeded to the real tome. The real deal was locked down with a Witherson Prismatic lock variant which took me all of 8 minutes to unlock after the fighters stopped frilling about and we got a good pile of loot out the vault."

"All in all it was a pretty good run, we got some stuff, killed some stuff and did it all while making it look easy. It was sad about Sheng, but that one trap was the only thing in the whole delve that was really dangerous, and Sheng just happened to be the one caught in it."
