It should be really dangerous not everyone should make it out alive or in 1 piece.

How about a Delve where you start in the 1st room and and have to get out of the last room. There is only one path and one Goal. The goal is to make it out alive. Each room could prove a differnt cahlenge. 1 might be killing all the monsters another could be a series of traps or a pit of acid or a maze or puzzle. Any way one has the entrance which get's closed when you enter the other end has the only exit. There could be treause in each room or no treasure just a Prize at the end.

There could also be a time limit or something really bad would happen (they let the Dragon in or the room fills with water or... I think you get the picture)

Just an expression for the numeric representation of your experience. It's not really a game element (although I suppose it could be, but not in the current format).

Well, I am sorry to say I won't be able to make mondays game. Wish I couild have given a bit more notice but I just found out this afternoon, I am leaving Sunday afternoon to go to my parents and won't be back until late tuesday. My dad needs help roofing the garage and it needs done in those 2 days it's his only free time between school and work and he asked me to come up and help. Anyway I am sorry I won't be there and I hope you all kick some serious spider ass.

Sorry, yep, you can send one.

On Thursday, 11-Apr-02 09:48:30 EDT, Tom said
I know I didn't make the 7:30 deadline but is it possible for me to still send in a write up? It's more for my character development then anything else. Priests of Gramlock earn status and respect by their tales of Glory.

Also, once we are out of the Delve, I wish to send word to the city I was once in for my gear to be sent here, and a take of my lastest Glory to my brothers of Gramlock.

topless dungeon? woohooooooo i wanna go see the women delvers

On Wednesday, 10-Apr-02 12:50:05 EDT, Steve D. said
Most people who watch the Delve do so in the stadium. An illusion is projected of an essentially topless dungeon. During a fight, most solid objects are ghosted so the spectators can watch without an obstructed view.
In some larger Delves, their probably is a feed to the OrbNettm. Thus far, no one has thought of commercials. OrbNettm is the opiate of the masses, although only the wealthy can afford an orb for their own home.

I already got a writeup of the last delve and I expect to post xps tonight. If you'd like to put in an opposing viewpoint, I'll need it by about 7:30 or so.

On Wednesday, 10-Apr-02 01:50:17 EDT, Mick asked
would everyone at least post thier name on the character list so they can be referred to that way. That is unless you prefer being called shield guy or elf. knowing and using each others character names helps preserve the feel of the game.. and maybe even helps with feeling like part of a team as opposed to a group of guys out to get rich... remember Delving it's not just a job it's an adventure.

On Wednesday, 10-Apr-02 01:47:22 EDT, Delver's Handbook said
On opening doors with possible traps:
A) the theif should first search for a trap.
1) to search for a trap close inspection is needed.
2) close inspection does not include throwing rocks.

How exactly do people watch the delve, I kinda picture people looking into crystal balls at home, with large 6 foot around glass bulbs for taverns that can be looked at from any side to watch the action. Since the larger and smaller versions are balls it could be call Orbs instead of TVs. Or is it a first person viewing where the watchers see directlly from the point of view of the various players through VR goggels type things. OR is their a arena like amplitheater around the delve grounds and a Illusion in large size progected into the air above the delve, or maybe the illusion makes the cieling of the delve disapear to the viewers so that the crowd can look down into a 3-d dungeon and minitures like enviroment like a players looking down at the dnd game sort of thing.

I was thinking that the delves should be kinda like reality TV shows:
Survivor: Traps are set up so that the party is sucked out of the game one at a time and only the last one goes up agaist the boss for the level.
Real world: The party has to live and travel together and are on a weekly show, during various time in the game the players intergect privett comments to the watching audience concerning other players and the delve.
Other shows: Two identical delve one with our party, the other with a group of NPCs running their delve the way the Dm would exspect a group to do so. Each group gets one time out when the games ends for the day for both groups and they have time to heal up. The first to finish all the rooms in the delve get the prize, alternitively thier is only one boss and tresure room and the first group to reach it seals the room off from the other group.

Wizards response was much faster than I expected:
I do have an answer (but not the one your players want.) You do not get to save anything from one level to the next. You must choose all your feats and all your skills when you advance in level. You cannot save anything from one level to the next.

It exsists as both a solid and ethereal object untill I hit something and it settels into whichever one state is needed to strike the target.
The uncertainty pricipal now serves me, and I finally have a tool for my Qantum mechanics toolbox.

I guess that untill some one else fills out thier current charater page, the party consists of Rosko, Drago, Wasabi, Mr. Two Sword, You with the shield, and the Elf.

unless said thief is also said cleric then he can turn them himself.

On Wednesday, 13-Feb-02 18:48:09 EST, Delver's Handbook said
On opening doors:
The thief shall open the door by puching or pulling it so that it swings fully open without further contact,
the thief shall then take two steps back.
To Either side of the door will be two fighters standing ready to attack any critter that shall step through said door.
In this way any critter stepping trought said door will step into a kill pocket between two fighters and the thief.
Should a critter on the opposite side of the door attack with spell or other ranged attacks only the thief will be targeted while the untouched fighters may then advance to attack.
Should the thief be of one of the shorter races a fighter with a long weapon shall stand behind him to add a 4th attack to any critter that steps trough said door.
The rest on the party should line up behind the open side of the door behind the largest fighter (perferable one with a shield), should the party have to advance into the room the large fighter can make a hole to allow the entire party to follow him.
The fighter on the hinge side of the door should have thrown missile weapons and should be the last in the room. Being the last he should be able to look about the room without being attacked, and look for leaders or spellcaster to target with his thrown missiles.
Lacking a target the fighter may choose to aid whoever is in direst need.
In dungeons which favor undead a priest shall stand behind the thief to turn away most of the advancing undead.

I consider the GM knowing that you reroll on even 3 scores of 17+ a feature.

It might be, since it dont send your scores to the gm's e-mail everytime you reroll.

Cool..looks like the party could use more spellcasting. BTW has anyone used the computer program to generate a character? You know the one in the back of the PH? I was gonna try it, but I was wondering if it was worth installing?

On Tuesday, 12-Feb-02 15:01:09 EST, Steve D. said
I think Joe's a cleric-thief, Lou's a fighter-mage, Mick's a fighter, Mike's a fighter, Tom's a fighter-cleric, Tim's a fighter. But I could be wrong on some of those. At any rate, another figher is probably redundant.

Okay, so for those who might have missed my admittedly brief explanation of the game. My goal is to make DelveWorld kind of like the "A Knight's Tale" of dungeon crawlers. THe players, if they do well, will be just like sports stars.
