Adventure Summary

The group is at River Hall putting the finishing touches on the plan to capture the traitorous Hedrien. The party assembles with some 15 "mercenary" troops (including Sgt. McHarlen). Acting on information furnished by the notorious Bandit leader the Claw, the clandestine group makes its way across the border and into Oserode. They make their way to a small village and stronghold of a minor noble Duiren Haneire. After Rayad and Haddath visit the village and recon the fortress, the group plans their assault.

The fortress is mostly wood, with towers and the corners and wooden palisade walk ways in between. The party estimates about 60 soliders are inside. Waiting till nightfall, the group heads in. With somequick sorcery by both Heidrek and Ludwig, the guards on each of the towers are either held or slept. The group proceeds to take the high ground, and occupy the towers, donning the garb of the now unconscious soldiers. A random patrol begins moving around the parade grounds and makes its way up the palisade heading for the tower where Haddath is waiting with 4 "mercenaries". Heidrek and the four with him open fire with bows. The Oserodians are taken by surprise and perish in hail of arrows, with only a grunt to show for it.

The party, with their mercenaries watching their backs, quickly storm the manor house. Luckily they find Heidren in the first room they check and he is put out by a spell from Ludwig. As they retreat other guard are beginning to sensesomething is amiss. Another patrol manages its way past its block door, only see smoke and fire coming from the manor house. A shout of Fire goes out, then under a strange mist the party and their quarry escape. Soon there is another shout of alarm, however, the towers have also been set on fire and most of the guards have their hands full. The group leaves telling the Oserodians that the Claw thanks them for their donations.

However, six guards and Duiren pursue the party back across the Roesone border. Durien confronts the party, calling them out and claiming that they have declared war on him and his country. The group denies it, and Ludwig, ever the noble tells him that he is across the border now and he is the one declaring war. Other members of the party insist they are bandits of the Claw. Durien is not taken in by the bandit ruse, but under superior arrow cover they flee. A short while later, continuing on the way back, Rayad spots a flying man following them. Strangely, his enhanced vision can see the figure, while even the keen eyesight of Heirek can barely see a speck. The party lies in wait for the "flying man", who turns out to be Duiren looking for compensation for his burnt home. Rayad was a little less cordial than Durien was used to and a battle ensues. Durien hits Rayad with a thrown spear and "flies" himself at Rayad. Ludwig, Heidrek and Haddath use missle fire to dissuade Durien but he is hell bent on getting to Rayad. Rayad and Durien cross swords and Durien is the better swordsman, quickly knocking Rayad out of the fight, leaving him bleeding on the ground. An entagle by Heidrek prevents Durien from finishing off Rayad and they continue to attack him with missle fire. Several arrow and dagger hits later, Durien manages to emerge from he entangle and barely escape with his life.

The group returns with the Traitor to River Hall. Hadrien is promptly thrown in the dungeon. Jonathan, the Duke's brothers, seeks an update on the capture. He suggests that the party, being rather memorable, lie low for a while, in the event that Durien gets some spies in town and ties the raid to Roesone. In fact, he asks the party to carry some dispatches and messages to the captial for him. The party accepts and enjoys a warm meal and a comfortable bed for the night.
