The Birth of Aredel
From the History of Aredel
Written by
Ni`var the Sage

Long ago The Great One created the universes and all that is in them for his children, The Gods. He let his children do with them as they pleased. Centuries passed and his children shaped the worlds as clay, and when the worlds they had made displeased them, they would destroy them. This made The Great One very angry, and thus he created Aredel.

Once Aredel was created, The Great One placed many of creature and life on it. He gave the beings only a sense that there were greater beings over them. The Great One made no contact with beings of Aredel, He let them create The Gods with their own minds. Once this was done, He called upon his children and showed them what he had created.

"I have created this, Aredel, for you my children." He saw his children's eyes light up on the site of their new toy. "But" he injected, "you may only watch it, never touch it." The Gods faces grew long upon hearing the terms of their new toy.

"But why father?!" asked his children.
"So that you may learn",
"Learn what, Father?"
"Learn that you needn't meddle with the worlds and their beings constantly. That just watching the beings and hearing the praise they give you because you created them and gave them life will bring you great joy. That you do not need to show yourself and prove yourself with great powers to have them praise you and make you stronger. We get our power from belief and as long as they believe you exist, then you will always have power."

So, The Gods only watched Aredel, and they did get great joy and power from the beings of the world. Soon there where but a few on the many universes left from The Great One's gift. They asked their father for more universes and he agreed. When he left to go create more universes he reminded his children not to touch Aredel. After some time, The Gods spent much time watching Aredel, listening and bantering amongst themselves about who had more power over the beings and how the actions of the creatures made them feel emotions. They learned that all the races knew of them all as the same name, but held them each in their own power structure. The only God to hold power over all the race was G`ret, all creatures believed him to be the King of the Gods and always paid homage to him, no matter which God's path they followed. This made B'nevavis very jealous of his brother. So jealous that he wanted to become King of the Gods that he broke his word to his Father, and interacted with the creatures of Aredel.

B'nevavis showed himself to Frek the Ogre King and promised him and his people great power if they pledged themselves to him and his path. Frek's greed over came him and he agreed. B'nevavis granted great mystical power to Frek and his priests. B'nevavis commanded that the Ogre's to march down on the Elves in the forest to the east and destroy all who refuse the god B'nevavis. And thus, birth of war.

The other Gods were stunned by what B`nevavis did. They saw the power B'nevavis had when the Ogres cried his name as they slaughtered the helpless elves. G`ret commanded him to stop, but B`nevavis only laughed. Other Gods commanded along side with G'ret for him to stop, and still he laughed and as he laughed the other Gods who didn't command along side G'ret laughed with him and defended his position, others just sat mute. Thus, the birth of Good and Evil, Law and Chaos.

G'ret swore at B'nevavis to stop or he would stop him, and B'nevavis cried "Then try, O'King of Gods." G'ret then showed himself to Grason, King of the Humans and told him what B'nevavis and the Ogres where doing to the elves and promised him and his priests great power if they rode in G'ret's name and stop Frek's army. Grason agreed and he gather his men and rode on. Grason and Frek met on the battlefield and cried their God's names.

K'alvar, one of the Gods to stand mute, showed himself to Mytep, a wise sage, and told him what was going on and told him that he would show him how to draw power from the forces around him if he would go and fight in his name. Mytep accept and K'alvar shared the knowledge. When Mytep asked which side he should fight for, K'alvar replied with "You must choose that", and was gone. K'alvar used his new powers to get to the battle. When he arrived let loose a force of fire upon Frek's army. Thus, the birth of Wizards.

The First War raged on for weeks neither side letting down. Soon a wizard joined Frek and a great magical battle in sued. Magical energies were thrown about with great force from side to side. The priest using their holy powers, the Wizards using theirs. Soon the great elven forest, once lush and green was now barren and dead. Thus, the birth of the Wastelands.

Neither side won The First War, it was fought to a stalemate. The First War brought many births. G'ret and the Gods who stood at his side where now the Lords of Law, while B'nevavis and his Gods where the Lords Chaos. K'alvar and his Gods were Neutral Lords. Magic is a strong force on Aderel, even though Wizards are few. But those who exist are feared. The Gods and kingdoms were at war with each other, evil and chaos spread like wild fire over the lands, the happiness and goodness that once filled the world were shattered. Thus, the re-birth of Aredel.

Soon after the Re-birth of Aredel, The Great One returned and saw what was happening. He grew angry and yelled at the top of his disaproval of his children, So loud that it shook the universes themselves and worls shook and cracked. Thus, the Great Universal Quake.

The Great One looked upon what his children had done and what they had become, and a smile creased his face. For even though they disobeyed his command, their lesson still might be learned. The Great One took Aredel from it's place and covered it in his breath. The Great One then announced "I have determind the outcome of this conflict." and placed Aredel back in it's place.

"What Father?" asked his children.

The Great One smiled and said, "That is what you will have to discover. You will continue in your ways, and I will watch you, my children. You may have as much or as little interaction with it's creatures, you may do what ever it is you wish." The Gods smirked at the thoughts, "Unless I commad it not. I will be the judge of this contest between The Gods. When you have reached my solution, I will award the world."

"How you will you judge this, Father?" The Gods asked meekly.

"I have already determined what will happen. I know each move that will be made, and I have determined which of those moves will be played and which will not." Thus, Fate was born.

The Great One let himself be known to all the creatures of Aredel, and was known as M`aximus, the Father of Gods, and the God of Fate.
