The Hook

How many tunnels are down that damn hole?

Prelude

Back in the Broken Buckler:
As the party sits in the corner eating and talking, a guard runner comes in and talks to the bartender. After a few moments the barkeeper directs him to the party.
“Hail Gents, Warden Trask wanted to talk to you. About going back down that tunnel.”

Summary

The group honored the Warden’s request and soon found themselves sin his office. They were shown down to the cells where the secret door had been found. The bars in that area had been replaced with a hastily-built wooden which seemed to be more about blocking the view of the tunnels than actual security. Warden Trask introduced Toreg, a Dwarven engineer.
They wanted Toreg to map out and evaluate the complex, but they had no illusions about it being safe and so were willing to hire the group as guards. Most of them were just hanging out in the tavern and so they agreed. They also brought along a tracker name Wiskerim in case they needed his skills. He also claimed to be good with a bow.
In the early stages, they explored three tunnels they had missed before. All three turned out to be choked with rubble from what Toreg thought was an intentional collapse, possibly with a magical cause. One of the choked passages had a spear and Magnus was burned when he retrieved it. Another one had a pair of skeletons who began to extract themselves from the rubble before being destroyed.
As they entered the next room, they encountered a group of skeletons they had fought and thought they had destroyed last time. Stier identified them as blood skeletons, vile creatures who can regenerate unless killed with something holy. After the group put them down again, Stier spent a few minutes making sure they wouldn’t rise again.
In the next room they found a group of goblins and it was here that Wiskerim proved his worth. Not only did his keen elven eyes pick them out, but he was able to kill them with his bow faster than Magnus would have done with his hammer. From there, they made it to some rooms they hadn’t explored before.
One was empty, another had apparently been used as the goblin’s toilet, but the third room was something entirely different. It glowed with a red light and as the group entered, they were attacked by creatures of evil: powerful skeletons, infernal snakes, and even a giant devil spider. It was not an easy fight and things were looking pretty bad for the stalwart heroes before Stier managed to grease the floor and a couple of them fell and then Osso attacked and began tearing huge rents in the creatures.
When it was over, all but the skeletons went back to hell. There was a strange statue of a demoness behind the altar and Magnus sundered it with a single mighty blow of his hammer. He and Ivan spent a little more time breaking the altar while the others searched for magic and treasure. At that point, they decided it was time to return to the surface and rest up. They were only two doors they hadn’t checked yet, but their resources were low.

Quotes

The bartender motions at you and a kid comes to your table.
Steir: What did you do now?
Magnus: It wasn't me, it was Ivan.

Joe : So this is below the castle?
GM: Yes
Joe: So it's a dungeon in a dungeon.

GM: Roll ot hit.
Jimmy: 5, I throw a dagger in his direction.

GM: These are bloody skeletons, they regenerate unless they take positive energy damage or holy water.
Joe: Hear me out, maybe we leave them here an come back to kill them every day.
Steve: Sweet, I take one back to my room to use as an alarm clock. He regenerates and attacks me, I wake up and kill him.

Steve: Lets tangle up their bones.

Steve: What's your protein? My brother
Joe: It's good to have family for dinner.

Joe: How do you have only one cure light wounds spell?
GM: He's a druid, not a cleric.
Joe: Yeah but still...
Tim: If you wanted a guy with tons of healing, you should have played one.

GM: There's a statue that is both attractive and disturbing at the same time.
Steve: Stier, how did your mom beat us here?

GM: You smash the statue of the demoness.
Jim: You're being attacked by a stone boob.
Joe: That's how I lost an eye to a nipple.
Jim: At least it's a good story.
Joe: I'm going to milk it for all its worth.

Joe: Even after you destroy the succubus statue, the altar has good cleavage.
