The Hook

The party returns to Westhaven for a rest?

Prelude

In Westhaven - There's dust on the east road. it looks like an army!

Four days, a mere four days where you could relax. Where the biggest danger you faced was trying to stop the drinking bouts between Bamf and War. And now someone has sounded the alarm in Westhaven.

It appears an army is approaching from the East. Runners have brought news that no fewer than 300 soldiers and priests are approaching along with many wagons.

Summary

As the army arrived, the group decided to meet with them as their leaders headed to town. Arric had undergone a transformation, new clothes, new hair, and a tremendous black eye. He explained to the group that at least one member of the army wanted to see him killed. It turned out to be the general. No one asked why someone would be so eager to kill a pacifist healer.

They met with the group and General Cordell (the one who wanted Arric dead) and his aides decided to stay in town while the army made camp outside the town. They learned the group was on it's way to Doomgate having heard they might need reinforcements.

They came to town and despite his best efforts, Bamf was unable to pick a fight with the general. Alon was invited to investigate a strange tunnel under the lake. He saw shadowy figures underwater in what appeared to be a submerged structure. At the same time, Ropp was invited to look at a door revealed by an earthquake at the Drunken Trout. He opened the door and a skeleton charged him so he slammed the door and went looking for the group.

Hearing of both adventures and having been kicked out of the tavern by the general, the group decided to go to the Trout. They entered the tunnel and soon found themselves wading through about a foot of water. Ropp's skills as a trapfinder were put to the test as was War's genius with stone. They made their way deeper into the structure, fighting a few strange monsters, including a water elemental.

Finally, they came to what seemed to be a church. There were 2 score skeletons somehow chanting as another skeleton led what appeared to be a church service. Arric called upon the power of Dalenydra and about 2/3 of the skeletons ran from her power as they burst into flames. The lead skeleton appeared to be a priest as well: he channeled negative energy, hurting the whole group and used a few spells as well. He was no match for the combined might of the group and he was soon destroyed and the group returned to Westhaven for a few more beers.

GM: There's a tribe of orcs. The males come to town often.
Steve: The orc women are so hot, they can't come to town.

GM: An army is approaching from the East.
Bamf: Should we go greet them?
Arric: If we can be peaceful about it.

Alon: Do you want me to lightning bolt them now? They're lined up nicely for me.

Arric: I'm sure we can make space for you at the inn. And if there's no room there, there's always the stable.

Joe: Should put up a sign "Reincarnated as Orcs Settlment". I don't know what happens, the druid just reincarnates everyone as an orc.

Steve: I try not to meet his gaze.
Joe: Too late, the squire was the first one you talked to.

Arric: We ahve a bunch of stuff we've never used, maybe we can send it to Doomgate.
Bamf: I'm part dragon, I'm not giving anything away. It's part of my hoard.

Bamf: Don't you want any backup?
Alon: How well do you breathe water?
Jimmy: He can drown pretty good.
Joe: He'll breathe water for the rest of his life.

Joe: Man, we're getting lured off one by one. No, that last guy wasn't a pedophile.

Arric: Where's this dungeon?
Ropp: It's in the basement of the Laughing Trout.
Arric: Seems like a great draw for adventurers.

GM: It's a big blunt instrument, just like Bamf.
