Call to Duty

Prelude

In Ithaky:

"I am sorry, my Queen, but did I just hear you right. You want to inform the Council that we are not going to attack anymore?" the advisor looks a bit confused. "I am sorry but I thought we were on a mission to take what was once ours."

"We are Hyrona, but you must learn the virtue of patience. Remember, my dear, we out live man by thousands of years. We have plenty of time to take back what is ours again."

Somewhere Else:

Electricity seems to leap from between his pupils, and even between his finger tips. The man laughs wildly as sparks jump from his body as he waves his hand back and forth.

"Isn't this fun, old man?! I told you not to mess with me, didn't I?" He drops his hand, as he does the body that was floating drops to the ground. The body is that of an old looking man, long and gray hair and beard. His body is covered with wounds and blood, his long hair is matted with sweat and dried blood from his torture. The man starts to mutter to himself as he tries to get to his feet. The captor points his staff of bone at the old man, who screams as he feels his life energy drain some more from him. "I grow tired of this. I will only ask you one more time, WHERE IS HE? You know where is he, you are protecting him aren't you?! His powers maybe strong but they are nothing compared to mine, you must be helping him hide. So for the last time old man, where is Toglard the Toad?!"

The old man looks up from under his matted and dried hair, "There is no way in this world or any world I will tell you, Snort. So why don't you go and grow some breasts!" the old man laughs as he finishes his words, knowing the last part is a sore spot. He can see Snort grow even more angry with that comment.

"That is IT! I'm not playing around wth you anymore you old fool. I'm through with you.' Snort raises the staff and points it at the old man. "But it doesn't matter, if you won't help me find him I have someone who will help me find him." Snort starts to laugh as he snaps his fingers and a image appears showing a man in a cell. "Well, at least he'll find me."

The old man smiles a bit. "Good show, Snort. A little more planning then I thought you were able to do, impressive actaully. But I'm sorry I must go now." with that the air around him begins to swirl and kick dust up into Snort's face. When it clears the old man is gone, in his place is writing in the stone floor. "You power maybe greater this his, but mine is greater then yours."

"NADIMUS!!!!!" the screams of Snort fill the chambers of the tower.

Adventure Summary

The group decided to set sail northward to help the beleagured nations of Balna and Hikria in their battles with the Amazon. They also planned to stop in at a few ports along the way to pick up news and perhaps right a few wrongs (or at least kill some assholes).

Their first stop was in a smallish port in Mesasis. Shane Lee, Morduke and Toglard(!) each headed out to find a temple. The rest of the group headed for the tavern hoping to pick a fight. Everyone was surprised by Toglard's decision to find a temple until he revealed his true plan - he was looking for evil temples with murder on his mind.

Olowniuk invited some fellow sailors out for a beer with him and he joined Malik and Archduke Ulrich at an appropriate tavern. Toglard's search for a temple didn't go as well - he wound up in the only temple of Si left in town which was tended by the world's clumsiest priestess. They talked and she explained that her temple had been left alone because it was too small. The temples of Gramlock were overrun with priests of Desiaous.

Morduke had trouble finding any temple at all and eventually hired a guide. Shane Lee found a guide who promptly led him into an alley for an ambush. After the robbers made clear their intentions, Shane Lee made short work of them. One of them ran off just as Toglard arrived and when Shane yelled "Stop him!", Toglard lightning bolted him. The priestess was shocked.

Toglard explained that the priestess was taking him to a temple of Gramlock that the Daesians had claimed and he agreed to come along. He sent out an air elemental to find Morduke, but the stupid thing found the rest of the group instead. Luckily, Morduke wandered by and the group was reunited when they headed for the temple.

They announced their presence with a giant fireball through a second story window. As the parasites were recovering from that, Morduke conjured the elementals and raised walls on three sides of the compound. The remainder of the crew charged in for the attack, only to be met by guards at the front door. As they battled the guards, the high priest launched a flamestrike from the fourth floor.

Toglard retaliated with a meteor swarm and the death of the high priest took the fight out of his followers. The group went room-by-room before deciding to head off to the next temple of Daesious for some further retribution.
