Aredel

A Hero Lost

Prelude

In the Pits of Valdornora:

"My Lord, the creature from the deep starts to dwell, however, it is not moving towards the surface as we thought. It appears to be looking for something to feed on."

"So it's hungry, eh? Well then, those little bastards wanted to go get it, so now they can. Send them down to bring the creature out."

"But my Lord, the beast is sure to make a meal of them"

"That it is exactly what I want. I hope the beast likes goblins."

In the Black Forest of Mykyll:

"Where am I? I thought I was almost out of this cursed place. What's that?! More giants?!"

"Human...there is human...kill human"

Some where in the world:

"Must get ready, must get ready. Guest are coming, must be ready for them."

Adventure Summary:

The party moved through the dark forest to meet the Whispering Winds in the bay to the north. As they moved through the forest, they started to forget why they were riding north and what they were really doing there. Morduke seemed to be the only one that was able to keep his wits some what about him, but even he was forgetting their real purpose. The party figured that if they didn't talk about what they were doing constantly their task at hand would slip their mind. Morduke did his best to keep them on track. About an hour out from the bay the party started to hear something come through the woods at them. Stopping and getting ready for a fight the party saw some old man running through the woods towards them, right behind him was about eight hill giants.

The old man, seeing the group of people in front of him stopped in his tracks, and turned to see how far the giants where behind him. As the giants drew closer the air was filled with electricity as Toglrad and Ulrich each sent a Chain Lightning down at the giants, with Mordule offering a flame strike. Wounding the giants badly the party prepared for another ranged attack, but were dumb founded when the old man turned and charged the giants. Not really losing sleep over it, Toglard let loose with a fireball towards the back of the group of giants, sending almost all of themt o the ground. The old man made a move, whacking the last giant with his staff sending the giant to his death. The party moved forward to inspect their kills and the old man, when they reached them they found the old man searching the giants. Morduke and Ulrich told the old man to move away, these where their kills and not meant for an old coward. Taking offense to being called a coward, the old man struck Morduke, who was suprised at this. Moving his horse to get a good blow in Morduke swung down from the saddle at the old man, cutting him well. The old man then turned and struck Morduke's horse twice, killing the steed. Toglard then demostrated his philosophy of "Dead Motherfuckers Who Piss Me Off" by disentigrating the old man where he stood. The old man evaporated before everyones eyes leaving behind a suit of leather armor, bracers, a staff, and boots. Gathering up the items the party made it to the ship and set sail for Dinasis.

Arriving in Dinasis, they docked in some small town that look as if it hadn't seen a ship dock or much of anything in months. However, Cutter Tubal did not leave the ship with the rest of the party. Without reason Cutter sailed with the Whispering Winds. Talking with the locals, they discovered that many had heard of them and many feared Toglard the Terrible. The locals where very hospitable to the party, offering food, lodging, hot baths (a few for Toglard) and clean clothes. The party inquired about how to get to their destination, and the inn keeper told them there was a old warrior that could guide them. But before the party could talk with the old warrior, the warrior approached Ulrich asking to be Ulrich's squire. Ulrich accepted the offer, and the old warrior introduced himself as Farrol Piecekeeper. Explaining that he was jumped by a large number of bandits, and had all his possesions taken from him, Ulrich outfitted Farrol with equipment, including the items that were taken from the old man in Mykyll.

Setting out the party road for a couple days, allowing for a detour for Morduke to get a new war horse. Getting close to their destination the terrian started to become rocky and hilly. Entering the hills the part got the feeling they were being watched from both sides. Communication with the earth elementals, Morduke learned there were some strange beast, almost cat like, flanking them two of them on either side with two in front. It seems these beast are intellengent and were "herding" the party to others ahead. Toglard put up a Wall of Force to block the ones on the left, and a Wall of Ice to stop the ones in the front. It wasn't long before the beast on the right attacked. They were a little tougher then the party had thought, but after a few minutes of tough fighting the beasts were dropped. The other beasts started to find their way around the walls, but were soon defeated by the party. As the party examined them, they decided to hunt for their layer before heading deeper into the hills.
