Diplomatic Immunity?
Prelude
Adventure Summary
After researching a number of new spells and determining more information about the background of the items of power and specifically the Staff of Bone, it was decided that the group should sail to the Isle of the Amazons and retrieve the Staff, which appeared to be there. Taking advantage of the diplomatic ties between the Amazons and several neighboring kingdoms, Lord Ulrich arranged for appropriate visas and permits.
Rather than arrive by spell or other unconventional means, the group decided they needed to recover the Ship of Earth and Sea first. Ulrich took the lead in this, as he has in so many things, and traveled to the Plane of Water only to find the boat was no longer in their care following Olowniuk's untimely demise. He as forced to travel to the Plane of Earth where the King of the Earth Elementals demanded one service before releasing the craft.
The group ready, they made sail. Under Ulrich's command the ship made rapid progress to the once Forgotten Isles. Despite their arrangements, no guides met them and no ships patrolled the rocky break in the atoll which was the sole means of entering the islands. Despite their peaceful intentions, they were forced to deal with a number of elementals who sought to drag them into the choppy seas. Interestingly, only Earth and Water elementals fought them, perhaps because they had brought only earth and water elementals with them to propel the boat.
They finally defeated the defenders and made their way to a populated island within 30 miles of their actual goal. They checked in, leaving a number of less popular members of the group aboard ship. They were assigned a squad of Amazons to watch them and given permission to explore the island. They were assured that no one had ever survived a night on the island.
