Aredel

Importance of Timekeeping.

Prelude

Adventure Summary

The group was at last together in the corridor just past the demon room. Toglard flew while the others, courtesy of the ever-prepared Gusmer moved ethereally down the corridor, through the door and into the chamber of the Time Lord.

The Timelord cut a less than imposing figure, standing in a circular dais and furiously scribbling while he muttered to himself. He looked up, directly at Toglard and wisely ignored him as a non-threat. At a signal from Gusmer, the others surrounded him, still ethereal and made ready to seize the ring.

Toglard, never one to listen to another's wisdom advanced to the dais and began rifling through the mans writings. They couldn't properly be called scrolls or pages, for it was clear that he would write on anything that presented himself. Gusmer idly joked that Toglard would be lucky to escape with less than the history of the world tattooed on his immense head. The others laughed and made ready.

It was at that moment that Toglard chose to interrupt the man's work and thus ruin the plan. The Timelord focused for a second and then, a moment later, the entire company was gone, separated as though they had never formed and transported through time to somewhere else. Only a few retained any memory at all of the events.

While those who remembered struggled, Toglard continued his killing spree and Ferrol languished in prison plotting his escape. The others were confused, save Gusmer who almost immediately realized that he should take advantage of this shift in the time stream to retrieve the Staff of Wizardry. While he pursued single-minded the others dallied about eventually all arriving to coat tail on his superhuman tracking sense.

They quickly tracked down the bearer of the staff and the bloodthirsty Toglard made short work of him again while the others handled his minions. Gusmer saw to it that Toglard, whose power was barely checked already, did not get the staff, thus preserving the balance of the world.

A moment later they found themselves in a different place a misty temple, brought their through the vision and the power of Gusmer. There they fought forces of light and darkness which were revealed to them only through Gusmer's blood sacrifice. They overcame all the guardians and retrieved a rod which was part of the scale. A brilliant light bathed them and they were back in the tower of elements, with the staff and the sure knowledge that none of them was ready for the ring of time yet, save perhaps Gusmer who chose not to wield it for he alone knew that the planar powers he possessed know were of more use for the moment.
