Gorron's Speech
"The ring that you carry is not just an ordinary ring of air elemental control, it is the Ring of Air. During the Great War the forces of Good and Law were being defeated on every battlefield in which they fought Evil and Chaos. The forces of Evil and Chaos consumed Aredel and all the lands in it. So the four Great Elemental Kings meet and decided to help the forces of Good and Law in their war and each constructed a great and powerful ring. These rings would hold the power of their element within, giving the bearer the ability to control the element and command those of that element. However, the Kings were not without forsight, while the rings allowed the bearer to control the elements, it held very little power over the Greater Elemental beings, and it held no power over those of the Royal Lines. Putting some control over Man for fear of abuse of the ring's powers. They also agreed that no elemental could ever use the power of the rings nor could the rings exist within an elemental plane without being possed by a mortal being.
Once the rings were constructed and their power embedded in them, each of the four Kings picked a champion of Good and Law and presented the rings to them. The Kings warned the men that the rings held great power and now Man was responisble for this power. That they should never let the rings fall into the wrong hands and never use them for personal gain.
With the help of the rings Man started to shift the balance of the war, but it was still a long and bloody road before the balance would return. Seeing that Man had proven themselves responisble with the power given to them, the Grey Lords stepped in and informed the wizard Mahneal about a great tower that possed the power to help the forces of Good and Law win the war, and presented him with a four sectioned ring. The ring had a section for Earth, Air, Water and Fire. The Grey Lords told him that it was the Ring of the Elements, a ring of ultimate power that could unlock and control the Tower of Elements. The Tower was a great device that held the very power of the Elemental Kings within it's walls. Mahneal sought the tower and once he found it, he used the powers of the Tower to fight Evil and Chaos." Gorron sighs as he finishes his sentence.
"Once the Great War was over, the Rings, the Tower, all items of great power that were bestowed on Man or made by Man remained controlled by Man. It wasn't long before Mahneal was hungry for more power. He used the power of the Tower of Elements for his own gain. When the Kings tried to stop him, he only laughed and commanded them to kneel before their new master. And even though they resisted with all their might and will, they found themselves in his power.
With the Elemental Kings in his power, Mahneal started to sieze power from those he once helped. Though it was many generations after the ring was first given to Mahneal, he stilled lived, however, the Rings of the Elemental Planes still existed and had bearers. The Kings pleased with the Ring Bearers to help, and honoring the pact made many generations before them they set out to fight Mahneal.
The tale of that battle is best left for another day, but I will tell you that at the end of the battle Mahneal was dead, as were all but one of the Ring Bearers. Using the power of the Tower the Last Ring Bearer destroyed the Ring of Elements, breaking into it's four seperate pieces and used the Tower to spread them through our the Sphere of Aredel.
As for the other rings, the Kings to the Last Ring Bearer to search the world for other men that would make suitable Ring Bearers and present the rings to them. He searched for years and had no such luck. The Great War was over, but Man had become more corrupt and evil still haunted the lands. So before the Last Ring Bearer took his last breath on Aredel, he hid the rings in the four corners of the Sphere hoping that they would never be found again." Gorron walks back over to where the princess is and sits.
"The Earth part of the ring was brought here to Bistal because the Last Ring Bearer was good friends with the king of Bistal at the time. Making a deal with my father the ring was to be left deep under the lands here, he pointed out the pacts never said the Elementals couldn't guard the pieces of the Ring of Elements. With the piece under our careful watch, and the royal family of Bistal keeping the location hidden from the rest of the world, my father gave them the Bykin plant. They were told the plant held great power and properties within it's leaves, oils and roots but Man was responisble for finding out what those properties are. I'm still amazed that after all this time there is so much that can be learned about the plant still" He laughs to himself like he just though of an inside joke, but then his face turns grave.
"As for those gems that you have, they will never be allowed in this place nor any of the other Elemental Planes. For when the Great War was over and the First Ithakians were banished to the Islands of the Forgotten, so where my evil kin. Elementals from all the planes of the elements where ban to the islands, cursed never to walk in their homelands again. Those rods posse the spirit and essence of my evil kin. I even believed I heard them calling to me. No, those rods and those gems will never be allowed in the Plane of Earth, ever!
I will talk with my father and see what he can tell me about those dark elementals and if there is a way to stop them. Until then I bid you good day"
