Acererack moves. Such a pity the "heroes" have resigned themselves into thinking the Tomb as another mere death trap of an ancient lich. Have they died? Who are the ones who with shrugging shoulders left for more interesting or profitable bounty...at least in their minds? I know the Devourer. You do not. It is that simple.

We're playing "return to the Tomb of Horrors" right now, and it honestly has been one of the most boring experiences of my life. Death is arbitrary in this tome.. To the best of my knowledge tonight should be the last day, and we'll finally conclude it.... I don't care if we have to stay up until four in the morning... I want it over with.. But shear luck my character, a warrior, has survived... Do you have any info on the area following the towers, this way I can read up on it now, and race through it tonight... Thanks.

Does somebody have information about Acererak ? I have bought Return to Tomb of horrors but the module doesnt mention much about Acereraks life (legend). I understand that there may be some information about him in the Greyhawk Campain set, but I don't play in Greayhawk.

I plan to run at Steve's, Monday September 20th @ 7:30... It would be cool if some of the spellcasters (eg clerics & Mu's made an appearance...

I'm planning on running at Steve's @7:30(sharp). If I don't get xps on tonight (and it looks like I won't) I'll bring them Monday night. (I don't think that they'll make a helluva lot of difference.)

Okay, I was kidding. Anyone got any suggestions on specific things Marduke and I should try to discover while we're out catting around? I figure - lay of the land, local history, and local government/politics are priorities with any recent changes and/or information on the attacks against the towns as a second priority.
Hmm. Now that I think of it, there's no reason to believe that all those villagers were killed. Maybe we could rescue them. That makes my priorities:

  1. Information on the raids/results
  2. Geography - a basic map of what's where and major power centers
  3. Politics - local leaders, rivalries and law enforcement
  4. Changes in topography, laws, attitudes
  5. Town History - who founded it and when
Hopefully, Dave is also reading this so we can skip some of that stuff during the actual game unless its important.

Hahahhaha!! All that remains now is for me to rid myself of Marduke and I shall be able to turn you all in to the forces of evil and garner a rich reward for myself!!!!
(Just kidding..... or am I?)
Evil is bad for commerce, but treachery, well, that may be another matter.

Nor, I am sure, do any other members of our illustrious company. After all, as I've learned in my long career as a merchant, being a household name can be a valuable asset. Everyone from here to Calimshan knows and trusts the name Albion and I can assure you that I consider having a well-known and well-respected name one of my key strengths as a merchant.

Yeah - Maybe that's ONE monster I can't hit but being able to hit a -6 ac without rolling never seems to hurt. Um... Did I say PARRY?

On Friday, 16-Jul-99 18:11:29 EDT, Tom said

No, don't suspect. I am a Mage. Finishing up my spell book this weekend.

On Friday, 16-Jul-99 18:04:00 EDT, Steve said

Hmm. Maybe I want to be a mage after all...
Very few things are completely spell-proof...

On Friday, 16-Jul-99 12:20:40 EDT, John said

Along those lines Here's one of the quotes:

Tim: My dwarf is +12, +16 with the +3 Dwarven Thrower! (Big pumpkin head)
DM: Only +3 weapon?
Tim: Yeah...
DM: Well it won't even hit the guy with the +5 Vorpal Axe of Dancing...
Assorted Players: BS, Sure Dave, You're just making that up...
DM: (After ripping a small hole in a sheet of paper, shows us the text in the module--) See I told you a +5 Vorpal Axe of Dancing...

Yeah, although a little productive min-maxing can optimize your chances of Howeying later. I suggest you stick with Ranth, which is the proper term for the activity you describe.

On Thursday, 15-Jul-99 09:51:38 EDT, John said

Tim you are not using the Howey verb correctly please see the glossary....Howey doesn't mean min/max...it means reminding forgetful DMs of your true bonuses.

On Tuesday, 13-Jul-99 12:38:54 EDT, Tim said

I was thinking of playing a Cleric or a Fighter/Cleric. I'll have to see once I start making my character so i can Howey. If being a strait priest will all me to use 7th level spells thats what I will do.

On Tuesday, 13-Jul-99 11:47:50 EDT, John said

Well, I haven't fully decided on being multi-class yet...
I could also be "persuaded" to play a Mage if we need another one, or maybe Cleric/Mage?

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 19:45:16 EDT, Harper said

Actually brother Steven, my knowledge does include magicks of the highest calibur... making the impossible possible. I do sincerly hope that you will accept my assistance.

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 19:17:43 EDT, Steve said

Okay, the update. Definitely no game tonight. John's playing a cleric/ranger. Mick's playing a mage or fighter/mage. Al's in, but I didn't hear as what. It's beginning to sound like one more mage might be in order, or maybe another plain priest (no one's getting those level 7 spells yet <G>

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 17:16:20 EDT, Tom said

Yeah I know. But I'm not even playing a straight mage anyways.

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 16:50:29 EDT, Steve D. said

I wasn't really suggesting you change, I was thinking about the other people who haven't said what they're doing or even if they're playing: Tim, Mark, Dave, Keith and Mick haven't said anything at all yet.

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 11:27:15 EDT, Tom said

Well then I'll change my class...no biggie I rolled awesome stats. I can play anything.

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 11:12:05 EDT, Joe said

You are correct... I will not be available to play tonight... mmmmm, beer...

On Monday, 12-Jul-99 00:57:17 EDT, Steve said

Stuff I know (or at least the most recent rumors):

  • Joe Hellar will be playing a paladin
  • Lou will be playing a cleric/bard
  • Joe Hall will be playing a cleric
  • Steve will be playing a thief
  • Mike will be playing a fighter
Stuff I suspect:
  • John will be a mage or a multi-class mage
  • Tom will be a mage
  • We could use at least one more fighter and maybe another thief or priest
Other news:
Tomorrow will probably turn out to be a bad choice of game night. I suspect that Lou, Mike and both Joes will be unavailable, meaning that only three or four people will be around - if it's that few, I'd rather join the others for a beer at Barry's. (This is my fault - I forgot about Barry's bash when I suggested this week).

Brothers, I humbly offer you my assistance on this most dangerous of campaigns... I can offer you spiritual guidance and a strong arm to aid in your battle against evil.

On Sunday, 11-Jul-99 16:41:54 EDT, Dave said

I plan on running per the calendar, but I guess that w/the exception of Joe (and maybe Howey), everyone else should plan on either creating or submitting a character. I need to have them before I can run the actual adventure as there's a little more to these folks than a first level one.

On Thursday, 08-Jul-99 10:50:15 EDT, Tom said

I'm thinking about a Mage....haven't played one in a long time..

On Tuesday, 29-Jun-99 15:49:29 EDT, Steve said

I'm seriously thinking about being a thief, probably a dwarf or halfling (most likely a dwarf). With some expertise in wards/sigils/glyphs and a major find/remove traps. More details as they develop...

And hey, I haven't managed to put it up yet, but NO Psionicists...

>> Since John is playing I guess it is Milon not Woods that is running. Tim: WTF!?! Why would I not play if Woods was running? Besides, I'm not sure Dave W. is up to it...Hope you are feeling better Dave (W.)...

I was thinking Cleric, Mage, or maybe Cleric/Mage.

Will be playing a palidin

I thought I might play a fighter/priest. So, since John is playing I guess it is Milon not Woods that is running.

On Monday, 28-Jun-99 01:19:01 EDT, Steve said

Gee, why is it that I always get to start these journals?
Anyone know what they're thinking of playing? I was kind of thinking about a thief or a fighter or maybe both (fighter/thief).
