Isle of Mysteries

Background

Ages ago the sea people set up trade settlements all over the world, trading goods, teaching crafts, and spreading their language which is still used as the common tongue.

Then 2,000 years ago they abandoned their settlements and have never been heard from again.

Recently the notorios pirate Captain Jarkins's ship, the Plunderer, was sunk by a fleet raised by the Hydra group and sunk with all hands but one, the ship's boy that was thrown from the ship by Jarkins during the battle.

The boy told of the pirate's lair, on a isle filled with the ruins of the sea people, pass a stoney shore filled with shipwrecks, down a underground tunnel to a valley rings in stone in which a settlement of the pirate's families and prisoners live.

A guard overhearing the conversation sold this information to Bertrum lloyds, a treasure hunter who commissioned a ship, the Bonaventure and hastily set out to beat the Hydra group there.

The guard who sold the information used his pay to get epicly drunk and passed on a drunken rendition of the same information to others.

In the voyage at least three other ships, notorious rouges and pirates all were spotted, but all three were smaller and less well armed then the Bonadventure.

On the approach to the isle, two of the pirates, the vandal and the butcher joined to attack as a storm brewed up out of nowhere, as the storm closed the Vandal was tom out of the sea by a great shelled beast, a vast isle became visible out of the storm and the Bonadventure was throw by the waves onto a achiest pier and dashed to pieces.

As the players where thrown into the sea they could see a enormous statue of a woman holding a book and a torch on the shore.
