The first match was a pitched battle involving the Gentlemen, Corsairs, Crimson Rogers, and the Vestenmannavnjar. The Rogers drew first blood with a vicious cannon attack catching Gosse and his men by surprise. Both the Corsairs and the Vestenmannavnjar tried to stay out of the other pairs way and they wound up in a battle of their own. Gosse returned the favor when the Rogers got busy and sent them and their captain to the deep. The other pair pounced on them though and they were gone. The Vestenmannavnjar, badly underestimating the Corsairs' strength, attempted a boarding and were killed.
The Rogers and the Montaigne also had a match and it was bloody, but the Montaigne prevailed.
In a repeat matchup for the Gentlemen, Vestenmannavnjar, and Corsairs, the Vestenmannavnjar prevailed by virtue of superior vulturing tactics, swooping in to kill Gosse and company while they were recovering from destroying the Corsairs.
