Organizations

Any information on this page may or may not be true. These organizations do exist, and the information is generally accepted as true. Changes or modifications of this data are possible, particularly if a player would like to do more work with a particular organization. Check with the GM before going too far. In the charts below, each organization is detailed as follows:

Name of the Organization

Purpose: The stated mission or purpose of the organization. Note that not all organizations issue mission statements and not all the ones that do are telling the truth (see tabloids).
Structure: Details of the organizations command heirarchy.
Reach: Generally describes how powerful the organization is
Tabloid: Rumors about the group. In some cases these may be true.
Threats: Describes what sort of threats the group poses to its enemies/victims.
Mechanics: Notes on game systems, particularly disadvantages related to this group.

The Armory

Purpose: The Armory is reputedly in the business of selling super-technology to the highest bidder.
Structure: Rumor has it that the Armory has laboratories in several US States, Russia, and the Middle East. They supposedly operate via the Internet. It is rumored that a single scientist owns the Armory, but there is no evidence of that.
Reach: Multi-national
Tabloid: The Armory is almost wholly a Tabloid invention; few reputable sources give it any credence. Tabloids report that they are in the business of outfitting mercenaries and some armies. They are also believed to mount their own missions to "acquire" secrets.
Threats: If they exist as described, the Armory poses a primary threat to gadget-based characters and possibly to altered humans. They do not attempt to kill the owners or inventors of gadgets.
Mechanics: The Armory may be taken as a hunted at 8- or a watched at 11-; even if there is no Armory, there are certainly enough groups interested in acquiring super-technology to fill in the gaps.

The Cabal

Purpose: The Cabal is a group of assasins for hire. They claim they can kill anyone, anywhere. They are also interested in acquiring secrets of all kinds, particularly magical knowledge and items.
Structure: The Cabal generally operates small teams or individuals. The exact size of their organization is unknown although they have fielded teams of agents as large as twenty in a single location. They are made up primarily of enlightened agents (ninja) although they welcome anyone who is willing to help them further their goals. It is rumored that their leader is an ancient Chinese Sorceror named Hu Shude.
Reach: Multinational - the Cabal has an intelligence network which rivals that of any but the largest governments.
Tabloid: The Cabal, according to the tabloids, was actually responsible for the murders of John F. Kennedy, John Kennedy Jr, and dozens of other. They are also reputed to be behind numerous thefts and sometimes accused of unleashing foul creatures.
Threats: The Cabal is a threat primarily to characters possessing magical or enlightened powers. They have no qualms about killing either their enemies and have been known to go after the family and friends of those who oppose them.
Mechanics: The Cabal has too many irons in the fire to pursue any but their most hated rivals relentlessly. They can only be taken as a hunted or watched at an 8-; they have no problems with killing their enemies.

Demon

Purpose: Demon is a high-tech agency with mystical trappings. They pursue many of the same goals as Viper and similar criminal organizations. Their activities frequently resemble magical activities, but tests have shown that they use much of the same technology as Viper. They are somewhat less competent than Viper and are something of a joke in the world of organized evil.
Structure: Demon is a world-wide organization with a basic military style heirarchy. Unfortunately, many of the field agents ignore directives from headquarters in the field of battle.
Reach: Multinational, although Demon is on the "second tier" of such agencies.
Tabloid: Demon really is a magical group and they use the technology to hide the fact that they call on dark spirits and make human sacrifices. They are also linked to the Dark Circle, a powerful group of magically-active villains.
Threats: Demon is not much of a threat, but they do pursue technology and money relentlessly if not particularly effectively.
Mechanics: Demon would love to make an example of someone who was very well-known. Most characters can take them as a hunted on an 11-, watched on 14-; if the character is famous, he can take hunted on 14-.

Knights of the Pure

Purpose: The Knights of the Pure exist solely to eliminate all mutants from the face of the earth. They are a renegade group which has some connections to Paranormal Research Institute. Basically, they were formed by a radical group of scientists who believe the only way to be safe from mutants is to eliminate them.
Structure: The Knights have two branches, a research organization which maintains secret labs in several major cities and a military division. Their military division makes extensive use of robotic technology. The groups are run almost entirely separately - the scientists are essentially independent of other labs, while the military arm follows a more typical command structure.
Reach: Limited to the US and only covert actions.
Tabloid: Any attack on any mutant anywere is blamed on the Knights; strangely, the tabloids often take reports from the Knights on the dangers of mutants in society.
Threats: If you're a mutant, they'd like to see you dead. If you're a suspected mutant, they'd like to give you a thorough (and often fatal) medical exam. If you speak out on behalf of mutants, you're a race traitor and should be dead. Basically, the Knights are one of the more deadly opponents to face.
Mechanics: Non-mutants can be hunted only on 8-; mutants (and suspected mutants) can push this to 11-; watched can be taken at 11- only by those who are not clearly mutants. This group basically only hunts to kill.
