Summary of the Adventure

The party arrives at the valley. Darran renders Andy invisible and he goes in to scout out the location. He makes his way into the valley and quickly discovers the Goth are hard at work on some sort of tower. The tower is odd though, with three doors on the bottom and no other openings of any kind. He moves closer to investigate further but is suddenly struck with dread. The master of the tower has emerged, and Andy senses that the man can see him. Rather than be captured, he returns to the company with the information that he's gathered.

The group is unimpressed with his scouting and they continue to watch the tower. Malz is also rendered invisible and flies overhead. The tower is even stranger from there. There are no floors and no roof, but there are iron bars stretched across the tower. At the top, the bars are missing a circle in their center. The circle is contained within a five-pointed star. As he watches, a group of Goths take their positions at the points of the star and begin chanting.

The rest of the group sees this as well and they charge forward, hoping to prevent whatever fell magic Goth and his minions plan to unleash. The group is somewhat divided. Andy climbs to the top of the tower, but is quickly thrown down. Calidon joins him there, but the Goths seem intent on capturing, rather than killing him. The remainder of the group, including Malz, enters the lower end of the tower. They are boxed in and Goths begin attacking from all sides. Harkonen uses his eldritch charms to cause them to attack one another. The rest of the group also joins the fray.

The goths are losing the battle and their master senses this. Of course, he doesn't care what becomes of the Goths, but none of the company knows this. He begins to attack with magic, but his spells are less effective than he might have hoped. He is forced to flee upward through the hollow center of the tower. Malz blocks him in twice using Walls of Ice before he finally disappears from the tower.

The group slays the remaining goths but then emerges to see the master poised above. He seems to have Calidon under his sway and is trying to convince him to bring forth the Flame of Truth. His true plans are revealed, and the group attacks with gusto, slaying many of his chanting Goths and driving him to the brink of destruction. Finally, he uses magics far beyond their ken, first stopping the very passage of time, then conjuring a prismatic sphere. The company continues to attack, hoping to leave him with no followers and no assistants for his ritual.

Finally, desperate to drive them off, he casts a disjunction and destroys many of the powerful magic items borne by the company. Unfortunately, in his haste, his spell affects Calidon and the Flame is extinguished forever. As he prepares to kill the company for foiling his plans, a ghostly hand appears and plucks him out of midair despite the prismatic sphere which still defends him.

The Goths are freed and the company returns to their homeland taking the orphan centaur with them.

Harkonen: When you scout, you can bring back more than one piece of information at a time.

Dave: What is that on your pants?

John: Why would he have your drool on his pants?
Joe: He still has that new elf smell.

Joe: Stupid vikings.

Harkonen: Evil. Therefore, Stupid.

John: A demigod?! What are we doing here? I'm insulted.
Lou: No kidding, we did a god just the other day.
