Trolling for Trouble

Prelude

The Trek South
Ah yes, the open road. Is there anything better?
A little gold wouldn't hurt.
Well then, we'll have to see about that when we reach Ansalea.

Summary of the Adventure

The journey to find the trolls was a very strange one. The company had some difficulty agreeing on an exact plan of action and there was some dispute as to who was in charge. Harkonen felt there might be legal issues, Darran and Calidon were concerned because the town had been attacked, Androth felt it was a military matter, and Malz played the role of the chief cook, helping the two NPC's to stir the pot.

Many arguments ensued about whether to pursue or not pursue the trolls and whether to bring the pair along, banish them, or just leave them be completely. In the end, it was decided that they could stay or go on their own and the Company rode about an hour from town and made camp. Malz bought a map from the pair, then tailed them when they left. When he found they had cheated him, he attacked, nearly killing them both.

The group arrived, broke up the fight and held a trial. The two were ordered to serve the Lord Mayor until the end of the expedition and thus joined the company for a time. They were consistent in their behavior, working to anger Malz and the other members of the group whenever possible. The highpoint was probably the two of them being locked in a secure shelter while the party camped outside. Despite many disagreements, the group gradually headed east.

Along the way, they killed several trolls, destroyed a bridge and discovered that none of them knew anything about ropes or tracking. They eventually found their way to the hidden fortress of the trolls which they scouted carefully before attacking and killing several more trolls, including a pair of giant-troll crossbreeds.

They were then met by a troll ambassador and his guards. Following a lengthy and more than a little comical investigation and negotiation, they returned the troll queen's bloomers (which the npc's had stolen) and Darran signed a non-aggression treaty (written by Harkonen) with the trolls.

On returning to town, Androth wrote to the King of this usurpation of his travels. A royal magistrate arrived and told the two of them to work together to solve their problems. He expressed some disdain for Harkonen and his religion.
