Accidental Heroes
Now What?

  Prelude

Somewhere in Laramie
Which way was it again?

  Summary of the Adventure

"Your friend seems wise beyond his years, perhaps you should listen to him"

The group turned slowly to find themselves facing three men. Their leader was tall and gaunt, looking almost as if his skin didn't quite fit. His two henchmen had shotguns aimed at the posse.

He asked a few questions, then offered them the chance to leave quietly. Crowe and Kincaid were eager, but the Kid wasn't so sure. Kincaid clapped a hand over his mouth to shut him up, then the group left. As they mounted, the tall man addressed Hector by name, claiming he was wanted by the Federales down Mexico-way. He threatened that if Hector remembered too many things, he might be inclined to do the same.

The posse headed into town, hoping to meet up with Virgil and Zeke. For their part, they were having a fine time. It turned out that Elizabeth was a soiled dove and several of her friends were very happy about her return. Zeke wasn't interested and wandered off in search of a saloon. Virgil was more interested but didn't want to leave Zeke alone.

The two of them were sitting in the saloon playing cards with a cowpoke named Zane Tyler. The group joined the game for a time then eventually headed off for some well-deserved rest.

In the morning Hector saw the blacksmith about getting his guns repaired, Kincaid headed down to the Sheriff's office to ask about missing women, and the Kid asked just about everyone he saw about the cabin in the hills. Zeke visited the assay office and asked about Professor Cliburn and his whirlibird.

At lunch, the group had decided to go on looking for Cliburn when the sheriff arrived to arrest Hector. He had a wanted poster on Hector from Guadelajera. Hector tried to explain that he'd never been to Guadelajera, but no one was buying his story and the sheriff was about to cart him off when Zeke arrived.

Zeke covered for him, claiming to have ridden with the "real" Hector Valdez. Despite Kincaid's best efforts to ruin the lie, the sheriff accepted it and relented. Zane punched Kincaid in the gut and told him to plan on buying dinner.

He then asked the group to make a lot of noise about heading north, then head north and circle back south to meet him. He claimed to have been watching the gaunt man for a while and that he'd been waiting for some folks to come along and help him break up the operation. The Posse agreed and headed north.

They were followed for about an hour, then the pursuers broke off. They travelled a little further, then came back and met up with Zane about 10 miles south of Laramie.
