Not entirely welcome in Laramie anymore, the group decides to go with Shiwana down to Cheyenne where he's been called on business. His telegram tells him that there's been a series of murder down there and all the victims have been skinned. Along the way, Crowe decides to take a detour and visit the Professor's old mine. He finds a few chunks of ghost rock, but the mine appears to be abandoned.
The rest of the group arrives in Cheyenne and begins poking around. Frank gets escorted around town by the local sheriff and finds a fragment of a handbill near one of the bodies; the piece he has says "ation" on top and in larger print below it, "our". One of the reasons they're in town is that President Grant is expected to come through town on a whistle stop tour of the nation. The players get nervous at the thought of someone skinning President Grant.
Shiwana meets up with a young lady who knew one of the victims. She describes the young lady in detail and says she's being haunted. When pressed she says she saw the girl going into the Del Rio the day following her death.
Frank's investigation reveals that the handbill is actually part of an advertisment for the "European Singing Sensation, Lorene LaTour", who is performing at the Casino Del Rio. Several members of the posse decide to watch her show. It's not bad. During the performance, one of the waitresses mentions that Lorene has a lot of wigs and make-up and that must be why she looks different every night.
