  Adventure Summary

The posse was joined in Cheyenne by Virgil, Cletus and Kincaid, all of whom were getting a little bored with life in Laramie. Deputy Urek left town, hoping to come back alone and make more interesting bait.

The members of the posse busied themselves with a variety of tasks in the morning, ranging from drinking and gambling to continuing their investigations. Things were looking pretty lazy until late in the afternoon.

Three guys came into the saloon with a wanted poster for Kincaid. They talked it over with him and he finally told them that he'd go to the Sheriff's office with them. They actually wanted to take him to the Wobbley Feather, where they were supposed to meet someone named Harold who'd offered the reward, but they settled for the jail.

At the jail, the sheriff treated Kincaid civilly, but he did take his guns and put him in a cell. As the afternoon progressed, most of the posse found out Kincaid was in jail. Four of 'em followed the three guys to the Wobbley Feather, while Zeke decided to ask the Sheriff a few questions. Zeke, who doesn't seem to have much respect for the law, decided that the Sheriff had jailed an innocent man.

He spent the next two hours telling anyone and everyone all about how the sheriff had jailed Kincaid for no reason at all. Some of the townsfolk began to wonder, but the Sheriff came out and explained that he considered Kincaid dangerous, not only because he was a bounty hunter, but also because he was worried about the number of fools who might try to collect the reward by killing him instead.

Zeke pretended to believe the sheriff but as soon as he was out of sight, he commenced to telling his story again. He'd probably still be telling it if the rest of the posse hadn't reminded him about Lorene LaTour's show.

The show was pretty good. The posse arrived and found that Jacques was already there, gussied up and carrying gifts. Urek was there too, although he was in disguise. The only one missing was Hector, who no one had seen in a while. While the others enjoyed the show, Edgar snuck out back and checked the woman's dressing room and her hotel room. There was a lot of money, but no signs of any skinning knife or skins.

As the first act came to its end, Jacques and Urek got into a bit of a scuffle. Urek had been making too much noise for Jacques all along and he wound up yelling at him. Violence might have ensued had the lovely Miss LaTour not intervened. The posse waited through intermission.

Back at the jail, the sheriff left one of his deputies in charge. The man started by asking "You Kincaid?" and after an affirmative answer, he explained that his name was Baruda. His cousin, Tiny, had spoken well of Kincaid and his boys. When he went out to get meals, he "accidentally" left the keys where Kincaid could reach them. He escaped and joined the others at the Casino del Rio.

Meanwhile Hector had wandered through the tent city and most of the town without picking up much useful information. He'd finally given up and decided to get a drink. As he sat enjoying a nice tequila, a soiled dove approached him. She flirted with him outrageously, and the two wound up going back to her hotel room.

The others saw Hector enter the Casino del Rio and head upstairs, but their attention was riveted on the stage where Miss LaTour was starting her second act. Luckily for Hector, Shiwana decided to try to find out more about the kind of woman who would appear so interested in Hector.

Up in the room, the dove flirted some more and convinced Hector to join her in a drink. He declined the wine, but when she offered to pour his tequila in a glass, he agreed. While she stepped behind the screen to get more comfortable, he hung his gun belt off the bed post. As he did his head started swimming.

Realizing he'd probably been poisoned and knowing he was in no condition to fight, he told her he had to use the bathroom. As he struggled to stagger across the room, he fell against the door with a loud thud.

Shiwana, about to enter the adjacent room, heard the noise. After a brief conversation with someone who pretended to be Hector, he kicked the door down and prepared to enter, guns blazing.

He had to steel his nerves at the sight that greeted him. Hector was tied to the bed and over him stood the girl. Next to her was what looked like a man with no skin. He was standing though and he grabbed one of Hector's pistols. The woman gestured and some sort of magic spell hit him. Downstairs Edgar recognized the use of magic and alerted the posse.

At first they weren't sure which way to go, but the sounds of gunfire upstairs sent most of them scrambling for the stairs. Jacques and Edgar headed to the alley outside. Shiwana and the skinned man continued to exchange shots while the woman cowered behind the curtain. Several bursts from Hector's gun later, Shiwana was forced to dive for cover.

The rest of the posse got to the room in time to finish off the skinned man and get one shot at the woman as she dove through the window, leaving most of her skin behind. Zeke never broke stride and launched himself out the window after her with Shiwana joining a moment later.

Edgar, Jacques and Shiwana all leveled guns at the woman while Zeke began stabbing at her frantically. She tried to fight back, but the mountain man was too strong for her and he plunged his knife into her chest several times. Upstairs, Virgil made sure the other skinner was dead and Deputy Urek tried to calm the crowd in the casino.

The sheriff arrived and things pretty much got straightened around. Red Crow also came and explained that the knife, which they found in a bag along with another skin and some cash, had been stolen from his tribe.
