Valric receives some information about his missing friends.

Summary
The swarthy man tells Valric that his friends are currently traveling with a bounty hunter named Falcon. He was last seen on his way to an outpost called Razorpine. He offeres to guide them there for 50 gold for the week. Valric agrees and they leave the following day after getting some additional supplies. They leave without finding Stalker who has barely been seen since Maya joined his retinue.
They travel five days to Razorpine with only a handful of delays to avoidt troubles. About a day out of Razorpine they meet a man named Darius Glavul who is dismissed by their guide as a fool. They arrive in Razorpine and Alonzo the guard suggests they head to the Dirty Rat Lodge, the only inn in Razorpine.
They meet Loli, the dwarven owner of the inn who provides them with excellent food and accommodations. As they eat, Jaxar Quinn, the overlord of the town, comes to speak to them asking their intentions. Valric announces his hunt for Falcon and his friends, while Bezoar explains that he plans to give a speech on finding and exploring the ruins of the old Empire. Jaxar likes this idea and invites them to meet him at his home the following day.
The presentation goes well and the following day Jaxar shows them a map that he says will teke them to a storehouse of the Queen. They negotiate a 50-50 split of proceeds and Jaxar offers two of his men as assistants. The group sets off with the two men, Malcolm and Haslet in tow.
They encounter and easily defeat a sand snake which clearly impresses Malcolm and Haslet who also learn about Bezoar's army. Later, Bezoar's summoned eagle yanks a kobold out of a tree and drops him at their feet. He is treated kindly (mostly) and is quickly drunk and talkative.
He helps them find the storehouse and explains that there are many of his kind there and the group is in trouble. After some discussion, he and Elben come to a wager -- if the group kills everyone, they'll let him live. If they fail, he'll still live.
They enter the storehouse and are attacked by a quarter of kobolds using bows and hidden behind arrow slits. Elben manages to avoid them and opens a door at the end of the hall. Valric charges through the hall and makes his way into a room where 8 kobolds are waiting behind two upturned tables. He slams into one, scattering the kobolds behind it. Bezoar has his skeletons block the arrow slits.
The leader of the kobolds casts a spell at Elben and it nearly kills him. Bezoar is convinced that it doesn't look normal but can't put his finger on it. With the help of the undead and Valric's anger, the kobolds die quickly although not before knocking Elben out. Bezoar restores Elben to health and thye continue their search finding a rich cache of weapons, food, armor, and gold. There's even a Decanter of Endless Water.
They dicsover that Jaxar had sent Malcolm and Haslett to rob them and are able to pay them off to just leave. They will tell Jaxar they were killed. They also free the captured kobold and two who managed to surrender without being killed by Valric.
