Might be nice if folks could show before 8

Well, I'm still in, although I can see that we've developed something of a glaring hole. Perhaps something in the story could send WuHo Song packing, like an important military campaign or a family emergency. In his absence a new governor could be appointed. If he were a Ming, it seems likely he'd want to have a new administrator, one more likely to see things his (and his family's) way. A little discrediting of Hu Shude could make it happen (perhaps they hear the tale of how Ch'hina Ito's statue got loose and tell a few people.)
Last I heard, that might actually get some closure, since finding the feathers would send Ito back (or at least render him mortal) and let us atone for our misdeed.

It has been made clear to me over the course of the last few months that I am not the one who should lead us in battle. My station demands it, but my skills do not. In the future, I will defer leadership in battle to Governor Wu Ho, for I believe his wisdom to be greater than mine.
I know that respect may demand that you tell me I am mistaken, but I do not and will not believe that to be the case. There have been too many times in the last few months when the path I chose was not as wise as the one recommended by Song. No man can possess all skills and it is clear that I am not skilled in the ways of combat and tactics. I will strive to improve in these areas by watching a man with more wisdom than I possess and will seek to learn from him what should be done.

OOOOOH!!! Sooo sorry! My master will be very displeased with me! I have dropped the message to be delivered to master Hu Shode in a puddle and the top was ruined. The only part that was lost was the symbol for my lord Master Wu Ho Song, for he was the sender of the letter. Please forgive this most dreadful of errors and also... please.... please do not tell my master... please?

On Wednesday, 07-Jul-99 15:39:10 EDT, said

Master Hu Shode, I believe that you and I are misunderstanding each other. I do not think you understand what I mean by "fear." It is common for a man who is about to die to fear his own death if he is not at peace with himself. Many of my enemies who I have left on the field of battle have fought with honor and died well for thier cause... but this is not always the case. There are those among my former enemies who had no honor and died the death of the coward. These men have feared me and rightfully so, for I represented the coming of thier impending punishment in the Hells. This differs from the type of fear inspired by the dastardly or cowardly deeds of a dishonorable man. Deeds such as sneaking from behind and stabbing an opponent in the back, or poisoning your opponent thus robbing him of the chance to face his attacker and defend himself. This is not the kind of fear that should be inspired I believe that it is this evil, sinister fear that you believe I am speaking of. I could not possibly inspire this type of fear for I am an honorable and respectable man. As to the issue of respect, if you do not respect your opponent, then he can not be feared. Respect is born of acting with honor and keeping with bushido. I have never failed to hold in reverence the high ideals of the Samuri, and I command respect from all men. You have led us successfully through many perilous missions and have earned the respect of many men, myself not the least of them. I did not wish to insinuate that you were not a respected man, and if I have offended you then I would be deeply shamed. I hope that we may put this issue behind us so that we will not be distracted from our powerful and effective alliance which has served us well in our prior missions and would continue to do so in the future.

Hiccuuuup! What did you say. Master Hu Shude

On Tuesday, 06-Jul-99 00:30:13 EDT, Hu Shude said

I would rather my enemies respect me than fear me. Fear leads to desperation and desperate men will act in ways for which one may not be prepared.
It is also true that I have respect for my enemies, for without respect, one can not plan properly. I do not fear them, but I do respect them. If one assumes that all ones enemies fear him, then that one does not show respect, for who can respect those who fear them?
I think it is more important to have respect from and for both friends and enemies than fear from or for either. If one is respected even by his enemies, then great honor will come to him and his reputation will be powerful. If he is feared by some, then those may create stories to explain their fears and those stories will not cast one in the best light. If I respect my enemy, then I can say I have respect for my enemy and none will think less of me. If I fear my enemy, I may be forced to explain that fear and, fearing the reputation of a coward, I may make some fanciful tale to justify my fears. At first none may believe such tales but as more are told, more will believe and soon one will have a reputation as someone to be feared.
I would rather have the reputation of being someone who should be respected.

As promised: I have defeated my foe and brought honor to my lord, my house my decendants. I have earned the respect of my piers and fear from my enemies... and that Hu Shode, is the difference.

On Monday, 05-Jul-99 10:30:43 EDT, Wu Ho Song said

Li Hon, your master suggests this to you because it will lessen the hurt of the blows you receive... I do not plan on being hit. If drinking indeed sharpens the mind, perhaps you should give a few to Sung before our next campaign.

On Wednesday, 30-Jun-99 12:54:14 EDT, Li Hon said

Wu Ho Song, You should get drunk before your fight. My master says alcohol sharpens the mind. I'm sure he would be more that happy to teach one such as yourself how.

Mondays?

On Friday, 11-Jun-99 17:54:29 EDT, Steve said

A major problem for next week's game: there is a chapter picnic on Thursday night. Lou, Tom, Joe and I may all be unavailable to play that night. Can we change nights?
A less serious problem follows that as Joe and I are at least marginally obligated to attend Festival rehearsals on Thursdays, beginning with the 24th and running until August. Could we change the night on a more permanent basis?

Most honourable sir... once more you have shown yourself to be a wise and thoughtful man. Indeed the error was my own and I realize after your recomendation that when I view the screen whole then the problem goes away. Please accept my most humble and abject appologies for casting dispairsions on your craft. I will shortly be taking steps to punish myself for dishonouring you... just as soon as I get this thing really sharp...

On Sunday, 30-May-99 12:27:45 EDT, Joe said

I most humbly come before you. Please allow me to be so bold as to speak out of my station that I may praise the most noble webmaster. I really really like the new background and effects! The webmaster has once again shown himself to be without creative equal. I only suggest changing the colour of either the text or the trelice because the both the yellow and the green are difficult to read over it... I'm not sure what colour may be better though, it may be due to the angular shapes of the trelice that causes the camoflage. This is only a suggestion and I did not mean to speak out of place my honoured lord.

I must admit that while I am skilled at many things, war is not one of them. We have been defeated by a foe whom I do not believe is our equal. It seems clear that our strategy was not effective. I would entertain suggestions for the defeat of these barbarous apes and their leader.
Could it be that we should ask the monkey-leader of the Stone Tribe to band with us? He has the same marks as the rest of the Young (Yung?) Giants and it could be that he will be needed to face some greater foe at another time.

They look like totals to me. I would also say, based on the numbers, that your total includes the bonus items. A somewhate more legible version can be found in the chronicles

On Monday, 24-May-99 23:16:28 EDT, Joe said

Are the honor points listed our totals or what we earned? Also, when you give the number of XP's after our name, are the examples listed after it included or are these bonuses to be added to the big number?

Very well noble sir.

A note: Joe told us after a few people left that he had mistakenly described Fegita as being burned. He wasn't; his clothes were burnt, but he was unscathed.
