Winter's Harvest

The books of the Templars.

Background

In the 2nd age the gods lived in the heavens but walked the earth, returning to visit their creation then returning to their homes until Lorna discovered that the coming and going of the gods across the planer barrier had created tears in the barrier. Outsiders began to pass through these tears, some were innocent visitors, other came only to raid and destroy. To protect their creation the gods agreed to stay in the heavens and to only continue their works by way of proxies.

One of these proxies was the clerics, priests with divine powers who declared the sites of the tears holy ground and built great temples upon them. The constant prayers of the faithful keep the Tears firmly attuned to the heavens so that no Outsider could pass though.

To protect the faithful, who eyes were turned to the dangers beyond rather then the dangers around, Lorna created the Templars in all the races. Only one in a thousand has the talent to feel the location of a Tear in the planer barrier, and of these only a few were able to commit to the training need to develop their abilities to master the talents to use the magic within them.

In the year 218 of the Age of Regis, Emperor Shaddam the butcher, denied access to rebels in sanctuary within the high temple of Pratoris by the Templars high council, outlawed the order, seized their lands, and killed their families. Within 10 years every Templars had been hunted down and killed.

The Planer Barrier

A metaphor for the foundation of reality, the barrier that separates what is here, from all the other things that is out there, and establishes the rules by which the world functions.

The Talent: Planer Sensitivity.
Every Templars has the ability to sense Tears in the planer barrier and the presence of a Outsider. The more larger the Tear or powerful the outsider, the farther away a sensitive can detect them. Each sensitive feels their presence in a different way.

Attunement. Feat.
An attuned Sensitive has made his body part of the Planer barrier, this has several effects.
  • He create a circle around him equal to his level + Wisdom adjustment that extra-planer travel by a weaker creature or device cannot penetrate.
  • The Sensitive is also immune from extra planer effects such as burst of positive or negative energy from weaker sources. When up against stronger extra planer effects, the Sensitive gains damage resistance equal to his adjusted Will save.
  • A attuned Sensitive cannot memorize clerical magic, since their gods are extra planers, worshippers of native forces are unaffected.
  • Priest of all sorts cannot call on their turning / command abilities while attuned.

Environmental Attunement Feats

Requires a concentration roll equal to 10 +
Sensitive's adjusted Will save + 1 for every one of the sensitive's active Personal Attunement feats + 1 for every other Environmental Attunement feat use in that location in the last day to avoid receiving backlash damage equal to the Sensitive's adjusted Will save.

The unseen hand.
The sensitive can apply a force in strength to his adjusted Will save to move, push, lift, throw, or crush a object. Damage is applied at 1 + plus the feats strength adjustment. Objects may be levitated in any direction as a movement = to the sensitive's adjusted Will save.

The Voice:
Direct control of any living creature. Target rolls a Will save vs. DC 10+ the Sensitive's adjusted Will save.Target fall under a trance listening to the Sensitive's voice. Target acts as if under the effect of charm person for the purpose of obeying any commands. This is a full round action.

Great Shout:
Mental release of force directed by shout. Target roll reflex save Vs. adjusted Will save. All objects within a 60-degree arc up to the Sensitive's adjusted Will save in feet away are struck with a great force. Those who fail their save are knocked off their feet and thrown the Sensitive's levels in feet backwards those who save are unaffected. Small objects, water, and dust are thrown into the air, solid anchored objects are struck for the Sensitive's adjusted Will save in damage. Target rolls a Reflex save vs. DC 10+ the Sensitive's adjusted Will save for no damage.

Destroy:
Sensitive's sets his will to cause damage to a single target. Target gets a Will save Vs. DC 10+ adjusted Will save. To avoid all damage. Sensitive's can burn, melt, blown up, or otherwise just plain old wreck things for damage equal to his adjusted Will save at unlimited range as a full round action.

Personal Attunement feats

The Quickening:
The Sensitive's adds his adjusted Will save to his base move and initiative at will.

Sleep of ages:
The Sensitive's can enter a state of suspended animation for a number of years equal to his adjusted Will save, plus one year per Hp of damage he is willing to take. For every 10 years spent in sleep, the Sensitive grows 1 year younger.

Invulnerability.:
Sensitives can gains Fire, cold, electrical, sonic or acid resistance equal to their adjusted Will save.

Damage Reduction:
The sensitive gains 1 point of damage reduction for every full +3 of adjusted Will save he has.
