At last, all is in readiness and the noble Wu Ho Song leads his brave army into battle. Sadly for him, there is to be no war. The enemies of House Yung, the Ming have worked hard to see that Wu Ho will fail and none of the members of his entourage has unraveled the twisted plot they've woven.
Chang Kai uses his study of the ways of the Dragon to convince a dragon to aid the group in battle. The very sight of the dragon in her full fury sends most of their enemies fleeing. The few who remain offer little resistance and the war is fought with few casualties and less bloodshed. There is no glorious moment of victory, just a quiet acceptance of defeat.
When Wu Ho enters the castle, the plot is revealed: the province is reliant on the Black Temple for much of its income and wealth, but Song can not let such men live. His noble nature betrays him and it becomes clear to those with knowledge of baser instincts what has happened. To rule Zheng will require compromise and that is not in the Samurai's blood. To make matters worse, it appears that the true matriarch of Zheng still lives, and she thinks Wu Ho has come to save her and her clan.
Wu Ho is confused, for none of this political chicanery makes sense to him - it can not be cleaved with sword, nor grasped with fist and he is at a loss. Several options are presented and Wu Ho wrestles with them, but does not immediately reach a conclusion.
