You entered the lost city and discovered the legendary tower, or at least its remains

Summary
The group left the cell block and found a room with a set of stairs. BAMF decided to investigate the stairs while the others checked the room. As he was looking a spectre of death came down from above. When BAMF struck the thing, it just kept moving and another one appeared. The second one attacked him as well.
It took a few minutes for the group to realize the things each had a target and if someone else attacked, a new one spawned. In a matter of moments, there were five of the things, one for each member of the group. Arric called on the power of Dalenydra to vanquish them, but they were very strong. In the end he turned one and sent it burning into the night.
The creatures were powerful, not just hard to hit but not easily affected by magic. Worse, when they hit, they often robbed the victim of power. By the time the battle ended, Alon, Bamf, and War had all been victimized. Arric called on the power of the Blessed Attendant and restored them to full strength. Sadly, he didn't think to heal them.
A few minutes later they found themselves fighting a swarm of ticks and BAMF was nearly killed by the things before Arric corrected his error, healing most of the group.
They went into a decrepit room and it suddenly became a sumptuous office with a beautiful woman reading a book. They asked her about the library and what year it was, determining that they must have somehow traveled to the past.
They found a clerk who alerted his master they were coming. There was another clerk there whom they asked about the book they sought. He said there was a restricted area where it might be. Ropp quietly distanced himself from the group and Alon made him invisible; he entered the restricted area where he quickly found and concealed three books.
As he was checking the restricted area, the others were called to see the master. When they opened the door to his chamber, it felt like they fell and they were back in the ruins of the tower, far below their lofty perch. A moment later, Ropp appeared. He still had the books.
