Summary
The group once again entered the soggy shrine, this time with the goal of cleaning it out. They moved through the submerged areas and eventually found themselves in a drier spot where they were somehow above the water in some caverns.
They eventually tracked back to the spot where the spiders had come into the shrine. In that area they encountered a small group of xill who were waiting for the spiders. They killed the xill and then dismantled the pentagonal gate which admitted them by removing the five gems which powered it.
