#20 #20 Three Hags and some babies

The Hook

A local farmer's children have been taken and their hands left behind.

Prelude

In the Tavern
I'm telling you, that girl is checking me out.

Shut up you little brats. This is just the beginning.

Summary

It was just another quiet night in the tavern; most of the group was having a quiet drink at the tavern while Arric was at the hospital trying to organize the newly recruited staff.

As they swapped stories, a beautiful woman introduced herself to BAMF who found her "company" delightful. After some pleasantries, the two them headed up to BAMF's room for an assignation. It wasn't long after the group heard screaming from upstairs; as they rose to their feet, BAMF charged down the stairs, naked and bleeding.

The group quickly learned that BAMF's paramour had changed into a 300 pound hag during the festivities and attacked him. They struggled and she wound up flying off leaving BAMF to wonder what had happened.

As the group debated following her (unlikely since she flew), a farmer arrived. His children had been kidnapped and their hands left behind. The group leapt into action and found a trail that his daughter had apparently left. The trail headed into the swamp, in the general direction of a tower they had cleared previously.

They made their way through the swamp towards the tower. Along the way, the encountered a witchfire; a beautiful apparition bathed in baleful green fire. She floated above the group making the battle difficult, but eventually the group found ways to attack her. She was badly injured and fled invisibly leaving the party frustrated by her escape and certain she'd be back.

They continued their trek through the swamp and were surprised by a dracolisk whose gaze turned Dragan to stone. The others responded with violence and luckily Ropp remembered an old story about using the blood to restore victims and it proved true.

The journey continued until they came to a raised hill in the swamp. As they moved up to investigate a cave, five creatures emerged from the swamp. They headed towards the group bringing fear and disease with them. Luckily, the proved no match for the power of Dalenydra and the party.

They investigated the cave and found a variety of creatures, mostly spiders. They came up against a spider the size of an elephant and, after defeating it, felt that a rest was in order.

Part Two
The group spent the night in the guard room as it seemed most defensible. They posted watches and there was no sign of trouble until the morning when Bornon found his bag of holding missing. Arric was able to use a spell to find the general location of the bag, but despite their best efforts they couldn't get to it directly and wound up following a circuitous path to get to it.

After a time they came to a door which Ropp checked for traps. As he looked he started bleeding and Arric recognized the effect as the Call the Blood charm. War slammed into the door setting off a nuisance trap and revealing a hag whose snake-like hair was bleeding blood. The fight was difficult and the creature managed to literally tear Dragan's face off leaving him faceless and in agony. Luckily, the spirit of Dalenydra filled Arric and he was able to heal Dragan fully.

They continued moving up and down stairs until they reached a door which Ropp investigated but failed while trying to disarm it. A face briefly appeared and breathed a gas which left everyone gasping for air and losing their ability to recover. Dalenydra's might was summoned again and the gas was cleared before it could do too much damage.

Beyond that door, they found a treasure golem which attacked immediately trying to take their treasure. Sadly for it, the group fought hard to keep their things and it was vanquished.

They came to another room where they thought they would find archers who had shot them twice through an arrow slit. When the door opened, there were skeletons. Arric, confidently stepped forward to vanquish them, but one survived. Worse, it turned out three hags were also in the room and they trapped the rest of the group in a forcecage leaving the unarmed and unarmored Arric to deal with the last skeletons and three hags.

Arric leaned heavily on his magic and the power of Dalenydra as the largest hag, an annis, grabbed him. The other two teleported into the forcecage and attacked by surprise. The fight didn't last much longer and the three hags wound up dead and the group found the girl they'd been looking for. She was alive, but her arms had been removed and eaten by the wicked hags.

Joe: If these things are just going to get repopulated, I think we should start razing them and building new ruins in more convenient locations.

Part Two
Bornon: There was a story that I could prove I was a prince by peeing through a dozen matresses. I may have got that wrong.
Steve: But that hasn't stopped him from trying.

BAMF: The first hour's not bad.
Ropp: I'll pass, I don't want your sloppy seconds.

Bornon: I check to see if the manacles maybe animate and bind anyone who gets close.
GM: Nothing like that.
BAMF: Now he's never going to get laid.


GM: You see any old crone with leathery arms and skin and bloody snakes for hair.
BAMF: Do I recognize her?
Bornon: Not from this angle.

Bornon: It's a treasure golem. You need to hit it in a vital spot like the family jewels.

GM: You hear a click.
Joe: It clicked on the lynx. I've been waiting a week for this one.

GM: BAMF you take 10 from the hag
BAMF: Sweet! My lady comes back and now I'm at 69!

GM: You find a girl; the hags have cut her arms off and eaten them.
Bornon: Everyone who thinks we should take the girl back, raise your hand. (mimes holding up the girls arms).

Joe: If we go the ziggurat there's nothing but tears (tiers) in our future.
